I agree. I think it's because they weren't trying so hard to make something that looked cool. They were trying to make something fast, and the form followed the function.

You have to move forward espically if you gonna try and take punches at Ferrari and McLaren and Porsche.

That plus it comes from the "Ford is obsessed with Ferrari" era so their design was very beautiful without rough edges. Know what's amazing about that car? That aero in the hood: I just wouldn't expect it from the mid 60s.

GT40 best GT.

You mean the First-gen GT? The one that Ford sold from 2005 to 2006? The new GT isn't the third-gen GT40...

This is the GT40 that won at Le Mans. There were four marks of the GT40, plus some one offs. Then there was the GT from 2005, now the new GT in 2016. So that makes it the sixth generation of the series.

Unlike the GT it was available (and usually so made) in RHD. One up on the GT then.

GT40 Ford GT. They were and remain completely different automobiles. The Ford GT paid homage to the race-winning GT40 race cars of the past by looking like it - nothing else. The biggest notable difference? Until the MkIII, the GT40 was not a passenger vehicle but was a full-fledged race car, and there were only 7 MkIII cars built. The rest are the J-Carr and MkIV. Other than the MkI, X-1 Roadster MkII, MkIII, J-Car, and MkIV all the other "GT40s" are replicas and continuation series cars, meaning they aren't real.

Calling the Ford GT the second (or fifth) generation GT40 is like calling the Veyron the second-gen EB110.

Except these all look similar, and are all called GT. The only reason the new one wasn't was because Ford lost the trademark. They're spiritual successors.

Spiritual successor it may be, but it's not a next-gen version of the original. That would be like calling the McLaren P1 the second-gen F1. It just isn't.
